dc.description.abstract 2 Abstract In this research paper we will talk about small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that play a very important role in a country's economy, considering their importance in generating economic growth and employment. Further development of the SME sector with special focus on employment is important. This is because SMEs represent the overwhelming majority of private businesses operating in the country and easily adapt to market conditions, and are therefore the main source of employment generation. Currently, almost all enterprises in the Municipality of Obiliq belong to the category of small and medium enterprises. SMEs in the country account for 99.9% of registered businesses, most of them - about 96% are micro-enterprises with up to 9 workers - hence having the largest share of employment (82.9%) and value added to the country's economy (69.8%). For this reason, SMEs are important in terms of providing employment in the Obiliq municipality with four out of five employees in the non-financial business economy belong to the group employed in one SME and two out of five employees are employed in a micro-business. en_US
