proactive violence
victimization
self-esteem
depression
alcohol consumption
The aim of this research was to understand the risk factors associated with self-reported proactive violence and victimization among Kosovo high school students.
Data was obtained from 4709 high school students (15-16 years old) from Kosovo that participated in the European School Survey Project on Alcohol and Other Drugs (ESPAD). This study followed standardized methodology, sampling, administration and ethical requirements as those of the ESPAD survey which ensures comparability across European countries.
Results from this study support findings from other studies that males had a significantly higher average rank in both proactive violence and victimization categories when compared with females at (p<0.001). In addition, multivariable binary logistic regression showed that matching some factors were more strongly associated with perpetration of pro-active violence and victimization among Kosovo adolescents. The strongest association for proactive violence and victimization was with alcohol consumption over 30 days, followed by skipping school, and having a depressed mood. The weakest associations were observed for relationship with parents and gender. However, self-esteem scores showed there was not a statistically significant difference between pro-active violence and victimization. All of the above indicate an overlap of pro-active violence and victimization among adolescents, highlighting their role as both the perpetrator and the victim.

Has science got a basic principle?
Abazi, Hajdin
verification
falsification
paradigm
rationalism
science community
The subject of this paper will be the attempts to find a basic principle of science from different philosophers of science. These resulted into novelties as well as new problems of perception, interpretation and approach to science, and its development.
Although the science which constitutes the most obvious evidence of increased human knowledge, turned out to be a very complex phenomenon with many different challenges to be understood and explained, which is expressed through different theories of philosophy of science, which also express different approaches, but at the same time reflect its evolution.
The novelties as well as epistemological problems, roughly speaking, can be summarized as follows:
(i) the formulation of the basic principle of science – the principle of verifiability,
(ii) the falsification as a guiding principle of science,
(iii) the paradigms and their shift as main principle of development of science; and
(iv) the controversial developments after Kuhn
Yet, despite the success, there is still no epistemological theory, which would give answers to questions: whether there is any rational explanation of how the community of scientists sets, culminating in moments of scientific development, to change the paradigms.

The Approach of Local Firms towards E-Banking
Abdullahu, Lorik

e-banking
grounded theory
critical incidents technique

time saving
Kosovo
The Objective – This paper aims to identify the critical dominant incidents and key instigators that influence usage or lack of usage of e-banking by the business clients.
Methodology/Approach – The research at hand utilizes the Grounded Theory of Barney Glaser and Anselm Strauss (1967). It also utilizes the Critical Incident Technique in order to identify the factors that influence on the (dies) satisfaction of the business clients in using the e-banking. For the purpose of this paper, the empirical data were gathered through interviews by using open ended questions. Among 63 interviews with the representatives of the small and medium enterprises (SME), nongovernmental organizations and other business organizations, 23 of those interviews were deemed as invalid for the purposes of this research, given that they declared that they do not use the e-banking.
Findings – The empirical results highlight the need to raise the consciousness regarding the efficacy and the advantages that e-banking offers to small enterprises; on the other hand, many other enterprises cannot conceive the possibility of running their business without e-banking, given that in the past their personnel spent so much time in traffic, or waiting in line for hours in order to execute payments, or they had to carry large amounts of cash money and they were concerned in that process by the feeling of insecurity until they performed the delivery of such money.
Limitations of research – The research is limited only to the description of one critical incident that occurred in a particular bank. There are cases, however, when the business clients utilized the e-banking with several banks. In the future all these cases need to be identified and registered appropriately.
The originality/value – The present findings form the basis for a more extended research in order to evaluate the satisfaction of the business clients with the service of e-banking and to offer further suggestions which a bank needs to follow in order to be successful in attracting and retaining the business clients.

illustrative examples
The purpose of this study is to show how “creative work” or teachers’ “products” directly affect student’s performance, in their written work. Through this study, it is aimed to draw the attention of all Albanian language and literature teachers to overlook important requirements and forms of teaching, which affect student’s linguistic training. Aspects of the present research are related to the topic of written essays, their structure, the level of clarity and understanding ability, and the consistency of writing styles that students do, as compared to those required by the program. Other aspects of the study, closely related to the first one, are the evaluative comments and notes that the teacher makes on the students’ written essays, as well as their suitability for each student. The general approach is to demonstrate through real examples, and convince teachers through analysis and comments, that various problems in the design (structure) of topic / essay avoid the syllabus/program requirements, produce different types of essays, and bring misunderstanding among students. On the other hand, general notes and comments do not help students improve. We believe that thoughts and the conclusions of the study will be helpful for teachers of Albanian language and literature in the development of their teaching process.

Ethical issues in photojournalism

mirror photography
window photography
self-regulatory framework
editorial policy
Photographic cameras are based on the fidelity of the eyes. Consequently, the camera never lies. For many years, media photographers have used this reasoning typology as a shield and justification during early debates regarding the relationship between this visual medium and the objective truth.
Simplifying the theoretical and philosophical analysis, the questions which arise here are: Is photography a mirroring of reality or a kind of visual information which is affected by the subjectivity of its author? What role do beliefs, stereotypes, prejudices, interests, personal standpoints, individual affiliation or tastes of the author of a photograph play in creating the final product?
The following article intends to shed light on the relationship between media photography and the objective truth, focusing on the theoretical debate in this field. The analysis of ethical problems in Albanian photojournalism and the role of media digitalization and Internet in amplifying these problems, occupy a considerable place in the article. After a detailed panoramic view, the conclusions and recommendations that follow will serve for the practice of photojournalism in minimizing ethical violations by building a self-regulatory framework and an effective and transparent editorial policy.

Skiing is accomplished under special racing conditions, including environment (tracks, trails), which has specific characteristics. Studying the techniques of alpine skiing is difficult to be realized under laboratory conditions, therefore the research should be accomplished in conditions that are defined by the environment or the race tracks. In order to determine the effectiveness of the slalom certain passages of tracks which differ in features in slalom races were selected. In order to have accurate recorded data that represents the slalom technique, speed was selected as the most important biomechanical parameter that characterizes the cinematic space of alpine skiing. With the analysis of the results and statistical processing, the conclusion is that the speed in given stages of the curve of slalom changes.

Effects of Nationalism in Countries in Transition: Attitudes toward Nationalism in Political Culture
Llunji, Venera
nationalism
society
political system
culture
democracy
Nationalism represents a serious challenge for the countries in transition. It is a factor which immensely influences and shapes the transitional process in politics in all South-Eastern European countries. It represents a challenge for the post-communist countries especially for countries like the former republics of ex-Yugoslavia, since, as Robert Kaplan points out in his foreword chapter to the book Balkan Ghosts: A Journey Through History, “ in the Balkans, no wars are ‘local’ ”. [1]Societies in Europe are experiencing remarkable changes especially in politics and economy through empowerment of their democratic political and economic systems. Nationalism and nationalist attitudes are present in political cultures in countries of transition despite efforts for implementing democracy, rapid changes and modernization of societies at institutional level and social structure and despite the newly established environment of these societies.
Countries in transition borrowed the so-called ‘copy-paste’ action, and tried the implementation of such systems without considering the specifics of countries in transition which subsequently faced the variances, inadequacy and quite often the inability for the implementation of the latter.
Therefore, this paper aims to focus on political culture of transitional countries, with a specific emphasis on Kosovo, covering nationalism and the process of democratization as a very important part of its political system and its political culture.

Terminology and generative concepts of the phrase
Dushi, Orjeta
Classification of the sentences
confrontation
predicative units
functional terms
parallel functions
The aim of this research is the reflection of the semantic values of the generative terms and concepts in the Albanian language syntax. With the introduction of descriptive, comparative, and explanatory methods, and with the use of a rich literature in Albanian and foreign languages, I have achieved the following results:
a) The classification of the sentences, based on the relation between main and subordinate clauses is made under these viewpoints:
I) The type of the relation that links the subordinate clause with the main one;
II) The form of the subordinate clause, which might be identical or different from the main clause;
III) The mood of the verb of the subordinate clause.
b) Predicative units with functional terms accomplish parallel functions.
1) In the known European languages the theme is usually the subject, whereas the rema is the predicate. From the traditional point of view the subject of an active transitive sentence is the doer of the action, whereas the object is the aim. In the ergative construction languages, the syntactic characteristic of the case would determine both subject the noun and the “aim” of the intransitive sentence.
2) The predicate complement is syntactically necessary for the accomplishment of the predicate structure (for this reason it is called “complement”).
3) Based on the number of nominative units by which verbs are linked to form the core sentences we make a classification of verbs. It is through this classification that the distinction between the subject and the object is made possible. The actual models distinguish the different verb classes presuming the existence of a special functional category, SV of which is its complement. This category is marked as v. The thematic net of a particular lexical voice is a structure with predicates and arguments that are typical of the language analysis, which have been formulated based on contemporary approaches.
The use of the aforementioned results introduces innovation in the linguistic and conceptual terminology of the generative syntax of Albanian language.
